Habit : | Apparently shrubby, quite glabrous, branches terete firm, nodes much enlarged.
| Leaves : | Petioled, thinly coriaceous, broadly elliptic or rounded, abruptly acuminate, 5-nerved from near the rounded rarely subcordate base, very symmetrical for the genus, dull brown when dry, 7.5 - 10 by 5 - 7.5 cm., nerves slender, nervules distinct on both surfaces; petiole slender, 1.25 cm.
| Spikes : | Peduncles slender, longer than the petioles, female spikes very slender longer than the leaves. Female spikes alone seen; bracts cupular, confluent below with the slender quite glabrous rachis.
| Flowers : | Very minute in separate whorls. | Fruits : | 0.42 cm. long, ellipsoid, with a very short style when dry. |
