Habit : | A climbing shrub often creeping on the ground, quite glabrous, branches subterete or angular.
| Leaves : | Petioled, coriaceous, elliptic or almost rounded obtuse or subacute 5-7-nerved from above the base, remarkably uniform, 5 - 7.5 by 2.5 - 12.5 cm., pale when dry, nerves strong, nervules transverse, base nearly equal, never cordate; petiole 1.25 - 2.5 cm.
| Spikes : | Bracts orbicular ciliate, fruiting spikes slender, fruit ovoid. Male spikes slender, 3.75 - 7.5 cm. Fruiting spikes 10 - 15 cm., flexuous; peduncle 1.25 cm., slender.
| Flowers : | 2-3-androus. | Fruits : | Rachis glabrous, except the ciliate pits. |
