P.sylvaticum

  Habit         :A glabrous low creeping species; stems flaccid, succulent, several feet long, creeping angular, contracting much in drying; branches short, erect, or ascending, flexuous.
  Leaves     :Membranous, long-petioled, broadly ovate or ovate-cordate, acuminate, 5-7-nerved from the base or the inner pair higher inserted, upper leaves elliptic or oblong-lanceolate shorter petioled. Leaves rarely puberulous on the nerves beneath, lower 7.5 - 5 by 6.25 - 7.5 cm., nerves slender; upper as long but narrower; petiole of lower 5-10 cm.
  Spikes      :Male spikes 5 - 7.5 cm. slender, fruiting female short erect 1.67 - 3.75 cm., fruit free. Spikes shortly peduncled, bracts larger; stamens generally 4; anthers reniform, cells confluent, dehiscing over the crown, female always erect.
  Fruits        :0.42 - 0.31 cm. diam.
