Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics Facility

The Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics Facility was established at ICAR- Indian Institute of Spices Research as a sub- centre under the BTIS network in the year 2000. The centre acts as a hub linking multidisciplinary scientific professionals, IT and technical experts committed to provide essential bioinformatics support and training academicians and students. The centre provides bioinformatics expertise to various divisions of the institute. Our group is dedicated in delivering computational assistance in a variety of topics in understanding the gene expression and regulation at transcriptional, post-transcriptional, and epigenetic levels. We also leverage various ‘omics’ technologies, such to enable better understanding of the soil microbiome and its impact on plant health and disease. We develop and apply algorithms and tools that uses sequence data to study a wide range of questions, including how genes are expressed during plant diseases, how genes change in response to different conditions within the cell, and how pathogen genomes evolve along with the host.
