PASSCOM – A DATABASE OF SECONDARY METABOLITES OF SPICES

Secondary metabolites are chemical compounds that are not directly involved in the normal growth, development or reproduction of organisms. But many of them have vital roles to play and possess a number of biological properties. The objective of the present study was to assemble the secondary metabolites present in major spices and to find their descriptors, biological activity, druggability, metabolic pathway information and ADMET properties using in silico tools. Details on more than 800 phytochemicals from spices such as allspice, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, clove, garcinia, ginger, nutmeg and turmeric were collected and included in this database.
