SpiceCom: A database of phytochemicals in spices

Spices are natural sources of a number of chemicals, which are known to possess a myriad of biological and medicinal properties in addition to adding flavour to food. In the event of artificial drugs causing side effects to body, the study of use of spices in the field of medicine acquires utmost importance. Hence we attempted to compile the research done in the field.

This database attempts to compile the biological activities of major spice crops like ginger(Zingiber officinale), turmeric(Curcuma longa), black pepper (Piper nigrum), cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) etc. and also the compounds present in these plants which are responsible for these activities.
