Citrus tristeza virus (CTV) is known to infect members of the family Rutaceae, that causes the most economically damaging disease.

A virus with highly flexuous filamentous particles 2000 x 12 nm.
Transmission Method
Transmitted by a vector Toxoptera citricidus, Aphis gossypii, A. spiraecola; Transmitted in a non-persistent manner. Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by grafting; not transmitted by seed.
Detection
Reverse transcriptase-nested polymerase chain reaction assay (RT-nPCR).
