Tobacco streak virus
Family : Bromoviridae
Genus : Ilarvirus
Acronym : TSV
Introduction
Tobacco streak virus (TSV) is the member of genus Ilarvirus cause necrosis of affected plants leading to death. It has very wide host range infecting many economically important crops causing huge economic loss.
Major Diseases
Necrotic streaks
Geographical Distribution
Wide spread on many crops across the country.
Particle Morphology
Isometric particles of 27-35 nm in diameter.
Transmission Method
TSV spreads easily in the fields through pollen assisted by thrips, by mechanical transmission. transmitted by grafting; not transmitted by contact between plants; transmitted by seed . Transmitted by a vector;Thrips palmi Thysanoptera.
Detection
ELISA and RT-PCR
