Dolichos yellow mosaic virus

Family : Geminiviridae
Genus : Begomovirus
Acronym : DoYMD

Introduction

Dolichos yellow mosaic disease (DYMD) affects the production of dolichos where ever it is grown in India. First reported in Lablab purpureus in India.

Major Diseases

Yellow mosaic

Geographical Distribution

Throughout where ever the crop is grown.

Particle Morphology

Geminate particles of about 20 nm in diameter.

Transmission Method

Transmitted by a vector Bemisia tabaci (Aleyrodidae) in a semi-persistent manner. Virus not transmitted by mechanical inoculation.

Detection

ELISA and PCR

Host Range and Symptomatology

Lablab purpureusBright yellow mosaic patches on the leaves and early infections cause reductions in yield.
