Introduction

An RNA-containing virus Prevalent in Capsicum annuum and C. frutescens. It is a serious threat to the cultivation of chilli especially when found associated with other aphid transmitted viruses.

Geographical Distribution

Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

Particle Morphology

Filamentous particles usually flexuous and 770 x 12 nm.

Transmission Method

Transmitted by a vector; an insect; Aphis gossypii, A. spiraecola, Myzus persicae, Toxoptera citricidus; Aphididae in a non-persistent manner. Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation.

Capsicum annuum (Bell Pepper) Stunted plants with mosaic mottling, marked vein banding and, in some cases, stem necrosis.
