Introduction

Rice grassy stunt virus (RGSV) is a plant pathogenic virus widely distributed in rice-growing countries in Asia, and economically important in the tropical and subtropical regions. Probably rice rosette virus is one the strain commonly seen.

Particle Morphology

Filamentous particles of 950-1350 x 6 nm.

Transmission Method

Transmitted by a vector; Nilaparvata bakeri, N. lugens, N. muiri; Delphacidae in a persistent manner; not transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not transmitted by seed.

Oryza sativa L (rice) Severe stunting, excessive tillering, erect growth habit, short, narrow pale green leaves.
