Cherry necrotic rusty mottle virus
Family : Betaflexiviridae
Genus : Robigovirus
Acronym : CNRMV
Introduction
Cherry necrotic rusty mottle virus (CNRMV) belongs to the genus, Robigovirus causing reduced growth, significant yield loss and early death. The disease symptoms (necrotic rusty mottle and rusty mottle) on the leaf of diseased plants can be highly variable and depends upon climatic conditions, virus isolates and plant cultivar. It also infects Himalayan wild cherry and bamboo (Dendrocalamus hamiltonii). The genome of CNRMV is monopartite and consists of single-stranded positive-sense RNA having 7 open reading frames (ORFs). Major Disease: Necrotic rusty mottle disease
Geographical Distribution
Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir
Particle Morphology
Flexuous rod shaped particles of 580 x 11 nm
Transmission Method
Through graft.
Detection
ELISA, RT-PCR and IC-RT-PCR
Host Range and Symptomatology
Host | Symptoms |
Cherry | Reduced growth, significant yield loss and early death |
Himalayan 'maggar' bamboo (Dendrocalamus hamiltonii) | Marginal chlorosis, mosaic, shot holes and necrotic spots on leaves |
