Sugarcane bacilliform IM virus

Introduction

Sugarcane bacilliform badnavirus infects sugarcane probably where ever it is grown. The infected palnt may appear symptomless or cause chlorosis, mottling and leaf freckle symptoms. It is often found mixed infection with other viruses of sugarcane. Of the two distinct species, SCBIMV is one of the species infecting sugarcane.

Particle Morphology

Non enveloped bacilliform particles of 108-118 x 20-21 nm.

Transmission Method

Transmitted by mealybug, Sacharicoccus sachhari in a semi persistent manner.

ELISA and PCR.
