Cowpea golden mosaic virus

Family : Geminiviridae
Genus : Begomovirus
Acronym : CpGMV

Introduction

Whitefly transmitted yellow mosaic and golden mosaic diseases are the major constraints in the productivity of cultivated pulses in India. A whitefly transmitted golden mosaic disease of cowpea was reported from India in 1980s was later identified as a distinct species under the genus, Begomovirus. It has very restricted host range within legumes and does not infect mungbean.
