Introduction
Sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV) is a potyvirus infecting sugarcane and other members of Graminae. Several isolates of SCMV naturally infecting sugarcane, maize, sorgum, pearl millet, finger millet in different parts of the country.it is also known to occur as mixed infection with Sugarcane streak mosaic virus.

Particle Morphology
Filamentous usually flexuous particles of 730-755 x 13 nm.
Transmission Method
Transmitted by a vector; an insect;, Melanaphis sacchari and Rhopalosiphum maidis in a non-persistent manner. Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation.
