Groundnut yellow spot virus

Family : Bunyaviridae
Genus : Tospovirus
Acronym : PYSV

Introduction

Peanut (Groundnut) yellow spot virus (PYSV) infects ground nut causing yellow spots which later coalesce and become necrotic. It was identified as a distinct species under the genus Tospovirus based in serology and nucleotide sequence studies.

Major Diseases

India

Particle Morphology

Pleomorphic virus particles of 80-120 nm in size and have surface projections composed of two viral glycoproteins

Transmission Method

Thrips, Scirtothrips dorsalis by persistent propagatvie manner

Detection

ELISA and RT-PCR

Host Range and Symptomatology

Groundnut (Peanut)Chlorotic spots which later turn into necrotic
