Introduction

Apple stem grooving virus is a plant pathogenic virus of the family Flexiviridae. Probably occurs world-wide in Rosaceae fruit trees and citrus in which it is usually symptomless. Its natural mode of spread is unknown. Virginia Crab stem grooving virus, Chenopodium dark green epinasty virus, Brown line disease virus are few Synonyms commonly used. Apple latent virus Type 2 isolate C-431 is a strain of apple stem grooving virus.

Particle Morphology

A virus with flexuous filamentous particles 620-650 long and 12nm in diameter

Transmission Method

Transmitted by means not involving a vector; Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by grafting.no seed transmission.

Detection

Double antibody sandwich ELISA (DAS-ELISA) is used for detection of virus.

apple, nectarines, plum, cherry, quince and apricot	Symptoms on susceptible apple species consist of severe pitting and grooving of xylem with pegs protruding on the inner bark face and overall decline in plant growth.
