Arabis mosaic virus
Family : Secoviridae
Genus : Nepovirus
Acronym : ArMV
Introduction
Arabis mosaic virus is a plant pathogenic virus of the family Comoviridae. It is readily sap-transmissible, has a wide host range, infects the seed of many host plants. Ash ring and line pattern virus, raspberry yellow dwarf virus, rhubarb mosaic virus, forsythia yellow net virus, probably jasmine yellow blotch virus are few synonyms.
Major Diseases
Yellow dwarf Disease/Mosaic and Yellow crinkle Disease/Stunting Disease
Geographical Distribution
Himachal Pradesh.
Particle Morphology
Virus has isometric particles about 25-27 nm in diameter.
Transmission Method
Transmitted by a vector nematode Xiphinema bakeri, X. coxi, X. diversicaudatum; Virus transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by grafting; not transmitted by contact between plants; transmitted by seed.
Detection
Arabis mosaic virus (ArMV) were detected by ELISA and RT-PCR using virus-specific antibodies and primers.
Host Range and Symptomatology
Host | Symptoms |
Arabis hirsuta | Mosaics, mottling and chlorotic ringspots and sometimes necrosis. |
Arabis sp | Mosaics, mottling and chlorotic ringspots and sometimes necrosis. |
Lilium bulbiferum (Lily) | Mosaics, mottling and chlorotic ringspots and sometimes necrosis. |
