Barley yellow dwarf virus

Introduction
Barley yellow dwarf is a plant disease caused by the Barley yellow dwarf virus, and is the most widely distributed viral disease of cereals. It affects the economically important crop species barley, oats, wheat, maize, triticale and rice.

Particle Morphology
A virus with isometric particles 20-24 nm in diameter.
Transmission Method
Transmitted by a aphid vector(Myzus persicae, Schizaphis graminum, Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch)) in a persistent manner.
Detection
Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is used for detection of virus.
