Procedure / Summary :

Explants (apical meristems) were grown on MS medium supplemented with 6-BA (5mg l-1) and NAA (1mg l-1) and later transferred to MS basal medium for rooting. After sufficient growth and establishment they were hardened in a pot containing top soil and vermicompost (3:1, v/v).

Applications

Production and mass multiplication of healthy taro planting materials

Advantages

The entire process from explant raising to the production of healthy young seedlings of taro could be achieved in two months time.Specific hormone concentration has been standardised for the first time.
